Branding / Identity / Naming

As organizations change, grow and integrate, a question looms. What should the name be — existing, new, enhanced or otherwise? For health entities, should something follow the name— health, health system, health care, medicine, partners, network, alliance, or something else?

A new, multi-channel campaign—We Love A Healthy L.A.—asks consumers to access timely life-saving care told via patient stories of athletes and entertainers, artists and religious leaders, families and entrepreneurs—who all fought life-threatening diseases because they accessed timely health care–and are now doing things they love. Leadership and management opportunities to improve, engage, lead and transform via board and leadership education, assessments, audits, best practices, performance expectations, recruitment, diversification and transforming to a environment that is strategic, highly focused, and emphasizes long-term value.

Addressing The Pandemic

The pandemic is transforming boards, leadership and management. Generational, economic and political divides are widening; return-to-work and remote options undetermined; uncertainties and unknowns unpredictable; burnout expanding, and back to what we’ve experienced as normal unlikely to return.

This can be disconcerting for those facing greater challenges and wrestling with rethinking their roles, values, culture and operations in working on behalf of the organization’s team, shareholders, stakeholders and communities they serve. As leader of Health Market Leaders national consortium of 115 health system executives meeting weekly since March 2020 and BetterTogether.Health coalition, Rhoda Weiss is helping health systems representing the majority of U.S. hospitals in transitioning through the pandemic and beyond.

Philanthropy / Event Planning

We have several decades experience in fundraising and event planning. Rhoda has taught thousands of students enrolled in UCLA Extension’s fund raising and event planning series. We chair global and national meetings as well as events of all sizes across the United States.

We help:

  • Lead and participate in capital campaigns and philanthropic activities
  • Create fund raising materials and case statements
  • Engage donors via friend raising and fund raising
  • Generate corporate and individual support
  • Transform record attendance, speakers, funding and sponsorships

Some of our work

Rhoda co-chairs Becker’s Healthcare C-Suite Spring & Fall Conferences, recruiting and interviewing scores of iconic CEO keynotes and keynote panels. Spring 2021 drew 13,000 online participants—nearly three times previous conferences.

As 2019 PRSA International Conference chair she transformed it with record attendance; diverse, iconic speakers; and significant sponsorships. Two international conferences led ranked in the top three most successful conferences in PRSA’s 75-year history.

Addressing The Pandemic

The pandemic continues to transform all sectors of society. Philanthropy, meetings and events are no exception. Responding to the pandemic and racial justice, fundraising more than doubled previous 10 disasters combined. As post-pandemic plans evolve, the role and generosity of corporations, individuals and foundations bring uncertainties and multiple challenges.

Same is true of meetings and events. There’s more virtual events with record turnouts of those not facing travel time and expenses. The near future sees a combination of hybrid events with in-person and virtual programming. While in-person more easily builds relationships, organizations are finding virtual events can greatly expand attendance by tapping friends, family and colleagues from outside the area to participate without having to travel.

Diversity / Equity / Inclusion / Access (DEIA)

While these words took on special meaning, direction and action more recently, it has been a major focus of Rhoda Weiss Consulting Group since its inception in 1986 and a critical part of the essence of our leader, Dr. Rhoda Weiss.

From coursework in Black Studies and cross-cultural communications to the topic of her valedictory address at Michigan State, focus of her graduate thesis and unending support of diverse communities, Rhoda and her team continue DEIA efforts over many decades. These include teaching and speaking on cross-cultural communications, ethnic studies, diversity and inclusion; founding leadership organizations that quickly and continuously reach and exceed DEIA goals; leading large national and international associations with unmatched DEIA successful initiatives; chairing large conferences with high percentages of diverse keynotes, presenters, participants and topics; serving on UCLA Extension DEIA Advisory Board; and more.
